Orthopedic Surgery Providers: Changes to Total Hip and Total Knee Care Clinical Pathways

What’s Happening
On Monday, Dec. 4, a new clinical care pathway will be launched to outline standard care expectations in the pre, intra, post op and acute care phases of Total Hip Arthroplasty and Total Knee Arthroplasty (THA/TKA) procedures.

Who’s Involved
These changes apply to all Piedmont Clinic orthopedic surgery providers, both independent and Piedmont-employed. Physician leaders for this initiative include Michael Behr, M.D., from OrthoAtlanta and Xavier Duralde, M.D., from Peachtree Orthopedics.

Surgeons, anesthesiologists, joint navigators, practice navigators, physical therapists, case managers, periop staff, pharmacists, and other team members from Piedmont facilities and orthopedic practices came together to make these recommendations.

What You Need to Do
1. Review the orthopedics clinical pathway and share it with your practice staff.
2. Practice Managers: Join us on Friday, Dec. 8 from 12 to 12:30 p.m. for a quick, 30-minute webinar. The dial-in number is (636) 651-3128 and the access code is 1429682. Click here for the webinar link.
3. Ask questions during the Dec. 4 go-live week, when the Ortho Core Team will round in each Piedmont facility’s orthopedics area.
